This month, we’re travelling back to The Old Kingdom, where ancient stone walls and worn tile floors recall a noble stronghold that has stood for centuries.
This month, our texture rollers were designed to help bring your kingdom to life! We took a lot of inspiration for this set from games such as Dark Souls and Elden Ring to capture that old fallen-kingdom style.
With time-worn details for your castle walls, courtyards, and forgotten halls, you can let the rollers do the hard work while you build a little history into your terrain. We’ve also made you a massive scatter collection to fill those spaces, from heraldic banners and broken shields to abandoned weapon racks to make your castle feel like it’s been standing for centuries
Texture Rollers:
-Castle Tile Motif
This is the most highly detailed roller from the set; it has damaged stone tiles with an ornate castle motif in the centre. It can be used for the floor of the grand hall of a castle and should make for some great highly detailed bases.
-Fantail Cobble Paving
This is an amazing general-purpose texture roller that will work for a very wide range of needs. In this set, it operates as the pattern for the castle courtyard, but it can be used for the streets of any medieval town and will even work for modern dioramas.
-Ashlar Castle Wall
This is the 'whole castle wall in one' roller, with the stones of the castle done in an older ashlar style with lots of smaller stones unlike our previous larger stone rollers.
-Marble Tile Floor
This roller is one we have wanted to make for some time, as a good marble tile floor has a lot of uses, but how to convey that it was marble was something we were unsure how to make work; I think we managed it by having the darker marble tiles have more marble-style detail to make the colour pattern of the tiles clear.
-Castle War Hall
This is the classic interior castle wall with pillars, archways, and large detailed stone. To give it some good detail, we added banners, halberds, and shields to the walls. Combine this with the 'Castle Tile Motif' roller to make the perfect grand castle hall.
Terrain:
-Castle Brazier
A stone base with arched details supports a large, riveted metal bowl filled with coals. The flame prints separately, so you can leave it unlit, paint it more easily, or print it in a different colour.
-Old Kingdom Banners
Two styles are included: a Broad Banner for great halls and larger walls, and a Pennant for narrow spaces, pillars and corridors. Both come in a plain version for painting your own designs, and a heraldic version featuring the Old Kingdom crest.
-Garrison Supplies
This 5-piece set features some good old crates and sacks for your storerooms, corridors, and empty corners. Handy for filling out those spaces, making your castle feel stocked…and giving your players something to dodge-roll into.
-Kite Shields
This 3-piece set includes a plain shield for your own crests or designs, one featuring the Old Kingdom crest, and a damaged version for a battle-worn feel.
-Spear Racks
These wooden racks hold a row of spears waiting for the next battle. One comes fully stocked and ready, while the depleted version features missing and fallen spears for a more abandoned look.
-Wall Halberds
A single wall-mounted halberd and a halberd rack give you two ways to dress your walls. Use the rack for a ready-made display, or repeat the single to fill out your armoury as much as you like!
